Therapy Services

At East Bay Therapy, therapy services are provided based on a client's individual needs. Clients may be seen for half-hour, 45-minute or 1-hour therapy sessions.

  • Half-hour therapy sessions include 25 minutes of direct therapy and 5 minutes of indirect therapy for documentation.
  • 45-minute sessions include 40 minutes of direct therapy and 5 minutes of indirect therapy for documentation.
  • 1-hour sessions include 50 minutes of direct therapy and 10 minutes of indirect therapy for documentation.

Articulation Therapy

Clients of all ages are treated for disorders of articulation arising from

  • delayed speech development
  • ,
  • phonological problems
  • neurologically-based impairments such as apraxia

Aural Rehabilitation for Hearing-Impaired

Aural Rehabilitation activities for hearing-impaired individuals may include
  • auditory training,
  • speech reading,
  • hearing conservation,
  • maintenance of hearing aids and other assistive listening devices,
  • articulation therapy
  • language therapy

Dysfluency Therapy

Dysfluency, or stuttering, affects people of all ages. Dysfluency therapy includes

  • fluency shaping techniques
  • strategies for increasing fluent speech
  • understanding emotional components to dysfluency
  • generalization and maintenance of learned techniques and strategies

Language Therapy

East Bay Therapy provides language therapy to individuals of all ages with a variety of diagnoses. Language therapy may target receptive language (comprehension), expressive language (expression) or both. Language goals generally address form, content and use according to a client's individual needs and may include

  • semantics or vocabulary development
  • grammar and syntax comprehension and use
  • processing of spoken language (recall of information, following directions, question processing)
  • higher-level cognitive-linguistic skills (categorization, comparing/contrasting, inferencing, understanding and using humor)

Voice Therapy

Voice therapy is provided for clients of all ages who demonstrate disordered vocal quality, pitch, volume or resonance.

Prior to commencing voice evaluation and therapy, an evaluation by an ENT is required to rule out the presence of any pathology that may be negatively impacted by therapy techniques.

Pragmatic Language Therapy

East Bay Therapy provides small group, pragmatic language therapy for children and teens. Pragmatic language groups address the needs of clients who have difficulty understanding and using language in social interactions. Skills targeted may include

  • Conversational skills such as initiation, maintenance and termination of a topic
  • Reading non-verbal cues
  • Understanding others' thoughts and feelings
  • Appropriate eye contact and body orientation
  • Turn-taking
